Case Western Reserve’s Office of Human Resources (HR) is conducting its inaugural survey of employee satisfaction this month. Its goal is to identify key ways to strengthen the services that HR provides to faculty and staff across the campus.
“As President [Barbara] Snyder often has said, Case Western Reserve’s success depends on its people,” Vice President for Human Resources Carolyn Gregory explained. “Our office interacts with everyone who works at the university, so it is imperative that we add value to each individual’s experiences here.”
Faculty and staff can access the survey online.
The Office of Human Resources is launching this questionnaire as part of a comprehensive effort focused on improving the support and opportunities provided to those who work at Case Western Reserve. Earlier this year, for example, HR partnered with the Staff Advisory Council to launch a first-ever survey of staff across the campus. Following focus groups on the survey held earlier this month, HR plans to announce initiatives stemming from staff comments about their priorities. The initiatives are likely to be unveiled before the end of the calendar year, Gregory said, but first must be been reviewed and approved by university leadership.
“Engagement is essential to how people feel about where they work,” Gregory said. “One of the first steps toward that goal is to ask members of our community about their priorities and, in turn, show that we are listening to what they say.”
While the fall semester’s staff survey and last spring’s faculty surveys focus broadly on issues ranging from climate to diversity, this new questionnaire focuses exclusively on employees’ assessments of aspects of HR. It gives faculty and staff the opportunity to comment on the office’s responsiveness as well as the utility of distinct services such as benefits, employee relations and wellness.
The deadline to complete the survey is 5 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 25. Visit surveymonkey.com/s/cwruhrs to take the survey today.
