Beginning March 27, Alma R. Sealine, director of housing at Case Western Reserve University and president of ACUHO-I (Association of College and University Housing – International), will travel to South Africa to serve as a faculty member at the second annual Student Housing Training Institute (SHTI).
Hosted by the University of Stellenbosch in Cape Town, South Africa, SHTI is a weeklong training intervention limited to 30 to 40 housing professionals within South Africa who actively participate in a facilitated sessions covering various competencies or skills for the training. The training prepares housing staff for career mobility from entry level to a middle and senior management position in the student housing profession.
Sealine will travel with faculty members from Michigan State University, University of Florida, Clemson University, Indiana State University and the University of Northern Iowa. She will facilitate the advanced training institute with a university housing colleague from the University of Cape Town. The institute is modeled after the National Housing Training Institute that has been held for mid-level housing professionals in the U.S. since 1993.
This is the first international training institute that is being planned by an international chapter of ACUHO-I.
