GOOD: Peter Shulman, associate professor of history, explained the how the pursuit for energy independence has changed since Richard Nixon’s presidency. “It’s a different problem now,” he said. “We have a strategic petroleum reserve, we have a lot of domestic production today, we have efficiency standards. We have much more diversified portfolio of fuels. We didn’t have any of those things in the ’70s.”
