Deepak Sarma, professor in the Department of Religious Studies, will give a lecture on the fundamentals of Hindu bioethics.
He also will discuss a related case, for which he was an expert consultant. The case considers the bioethical concerns related to a case in which an infant—the child of Hindu parents—was circumcised without the required parental consent.
His lecture, titled “On Hindu Bioethics: Respecting Diverse Beliefs in the Context of Western Medicine’s Standards of Care,” will be held Monday, Nov. 12, from noon to 1 p.m. at Cleveland Clinic’s TT Building – Jennings Education (2045 East 90th St.) in the Bunts Auditorium.
