The Office for Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity (OIDEO) recently promoted Heather E. Burton to the role of associate vice president of the office. The promotion was effective July 1.
Burton came to Case Western Reserve University in 2015 as project director of the NSF Advance grant and quickly advanced to director of partner institutions faculty and student development. With a natural transition to diversity, equity and inclusion practices, in 2020, Burton became senior director for faculty and institutional diversity in OIDEO. As associate vice president, Burton will play an integral role in the OIDEO leadership, will continue her senior director responsibilities and continue to promote an inclusive culture, climate and curriculum at CWRU.
Burton holds a BA degree from The Ohio State University, an MSW degree from the University of Akron, and an MPA and PhD from Cleveland State University. She will continue to teach at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied and Social Sciences and the College of Arts and Sciences.
