Guest lecturer to discuss development in Africa Oct. 8

The Program in Ethnic Studies will sponsor a lecture by Roger Mondoue, titled  “Philosophy of Action in Postcolonial Africa: The Practice of Knowledge Decentralization,” on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 4: 30 p.m. in Clark Hall 206.

Mondoue is a professor of philosophy and ethics at the University of Dschang in Cameroon, CEO of publishing house L’Harmattan-Cameroon and author of the book Nouveaux Philosophes et Antimarxisme.

He will discuss how development in Africa is—and must be—possible, but how it must include the work of Africans on all levels. Also, he will explain how his founding of one of the biggest publishing houses in Africa is an example of African-generated development.
