Great Lakes Energy Institute honors 2024 Distinguished Fellows

The Great Lakes Energy Institute recently announced its cohort of 2024 Distinguished Fellows. These distinguished fellowships are named after key supporters of GLEI and the ThinkEnergy Fellows program.

Lexi Knight was named the Walt and Sylvia Culver Distinguished Fellow. This honorary designation acknowledges a graduate student who is embracing their time in ThinkEnergy to open doors and have a lasting impact. Knight is pursuing a PhD in chemistry and leads Solar Sprout, a startup company working to develop novel organic solar cells for “agrivoltaic” applications, combining solar energy and farming.

Ryan Seymour was named the Sheldon Greene Distinguished Fellow. This honorary designation acknowledges a graduate student who is an innovator and embracing their time in ThinkEnergy to change the way people think about energy. Seymour is a fourth-year student in business management and helps lead Solar Sprout.

Kang Shen was named the Peter Ranney Distinguished Fellow. This honorary designation acknowledges a graduate student who is embracing their time in ThinkEnergy and shows great promise in helping transform the energy space. Shen recently earned his PhD in mechanical engineering and supports Rebat, a startup company focused on reducing battery waste streams and redeploying batteries for new uses and extended lifecycles.

Adam Goodman was named the Jun Shin Distinguished Fellow in Energy Storage Devices. This honorary designation acknowledges a fellow who is embracing their time in ThinkEnergy and shows great promise in helping transform the energy storage space. Goodman is a fourth-year student pursuing an electrical engineering degree and leads Rebat.
