Graduating students: Learn how to manage and retrieve your data

Graduating from CWRU is an exciting milestone that marks the beginning of a new chapter. As you prepare to transition to your next adventure, it’s essential to ensure that all your valuable data accumulated over the years is safely retrieved and stored. University Technology ([U]Tech) encourages you to take time to review when you will lose access to your digital data and how to retrieve it. Your access to some services, such as Zoom, will end upon graduation while others, such as Google Workspace, will continue for 180 days afterward.

Some key tips are:

  • Plan ahead: Start this process early to avoid losing access to your data before you have secured all of your data. It can take a couple of weeks to transfer data from some services.
  • Organize your data: Create a structured system for storing your downloaded data to make it easily accessible in the future.
  • Secure your information: Protect your data by using strong passwords and considering encryption for sensitive information.

By taking these steps, you’ll ensure a smooth transition and retain access to the valuable resources and information you’ve gathered during your time at CWRU.
