Monissa Hall, a second-year student in the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences’ online social work degree program, was honored through the Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE) Minority Fellowship Program. Hall is a social worker from Columbus, Ohio, where she works in a foster care program.
The fellowship program aims to reduce the effects of substance abuse and mental illness on America’s communities by increasing the number of individuals trained to work with underrepresented and underserved racial and ethnic minority persons with or at risk for mental health and/or substance abuse disorders.
“I am truly honored to represent Case Western Reserve as a fellowship recipient,” Hall said. “I plan to use my education and the opportunities provided by CSWE to refine my skills as a social worker, and to continue to grow as an advocate for people in need.”
Hall joins a nationwide cohort of 40 social work students and professionals selected for the honor this year. Fellows will attend an in-person training in this month in Alexandria, Virginia, and participate in virtual webinars throughout the fellowship year.
