Does your office use a third-party company to send mass mailings? Google will begin rejecting email messages that contain multiple headers on April 24. The change follows the Internet Official Protocol Standards on message formats. It is designed to reduce spam and other email abuse by rejecting messages with a malicious duplicate header exploitation.
What does this mean to your office? Although most reputable vendors will already send compliant messages, if your office works with a vendor that sends mass mailings to members of the CWRU community or external audiences, reach out to that vendor to make sure they send email messages that comply with this new standard (RFC 5322).
Non-compliant messages will be blocked by Gmail, including CWRU Google mail, starting April 24. Google is implementing this change globally and it cannot be delayed by CWRU.
