The Flora Stone Mather Center for Women and the Women in Science and Engineering Roundtable (WISER) are partnering with the National Council for Women & Information Technology’s AspireIT program and a local high school to form GirlCodeCLE, an outreach coding program that will bring 20 middle schoolers from underrepresented backgrounds to campus March 21-22 and March 28-29.
Volunteers are needed to help make the event a success. They will assist students in using micro:bits and the computer program Scratch, facilitate group activities and help with setup and cleanup of food and materials. Women STEM students who are interested in participating in the program are required to attend a training session Sunday, Feb. 23, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Food will be provided for all volunteers during the training session and both volunteer sessions. The deadline to sign up is Saturday, Feb. 22. For answers to questions about the event, email lkh38@case.edu.
