The Plain Dealer: Technology allows consumers to get more efficient access to deals this holiday season, but it raises questions about what data consumers give up when they use this technology. “It’s not so much the intent of most of the marketing organizations to invade privacy,” said Gary Hunter, an assistant professor of marketing. “They’re really just trying to match, as they’ve always tried to match, consumers to the product or service.”
