College campuses are no strangers to activism and advocacy. Monumental policy changes such as desegregation and increases in resource allocations have been the byproducts of student leaders’ efforts. From sit-ins in the 1960s to hunger strikes in the 2000s, student leaders have been at the forefront of social change campuses.
In the wake of a new civil and human rights movement, Student Activities & Leadership will host a session titled “From Moments to Movements: The Power of the Student” Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 7 to 8 p.m.
During this presentation, speaker P.J. Jones, assistant director of multicultural and diversity affairs at the University of Florida, will give students a chance to engage in meaningful dialogue around student activism, advocacy and social change while learning about the significant role they can play as change agents.
