“From Data to Measurable Actions: Advancing Equity in Genomics Research”

The Bioethics Center for Community Health and Genomic Equity (CHANGE) and the Department of Bioethics will host the 2024 Patricia A. Marshall Lecture, featuring distinguished speaker Shawneequa Callier, associate professor of clinical research and leadership at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Science.

Callier will present “From Data to Measurable Actions: Advancing Equity in Genomics Research” Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in Wolstein Research Building, Room 1413. The talk also will be offered virtually.

This annual lecture series showcases scholarship on advancing health equity in genomics. Callier brings nearly two decades of experience analyzing the ethical, legal and social implications of emerging technologies in genomics research and data science, including time as a postdoc at Case Western Reserve University.

Callier’s expertise includes her work as a special volunteer at the National Human Genome Research Institute’s Center for Research on Genomics and Global Health.

The event is open to the public and a reception will follow Callier’s talk. Register to attend.
