The 2019-20 William N. Skirball Writers Center Stage Series continues Tuesday, Nov. 12, with an appearance by award-winning author Michael Ondaatje. The event will be from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Milton and Tamar Maltz Performing Arts Center.
A limited number of free student tickets will be available in person beginning at 9 a.m. Nov. 4. Students can show their Case Western Reserve ID at the Tinkham Veale University Center’s first-floor information desk to obtain a ticket to the event.
Free shuttle service from campus is available.
About the talk
Ondaatje is one of the world’s foremost writers whose artistry and aesthetic have influenced an entire generation of writers and readers. Although he is best known as a novelist, Ondaatje’s work also encompasses poetry, memoir and film. His novel, The English Patient, explores the intersection of four diverse lives at the end of World War II. This best-selling novel was later made into an Academy Award-winning film. In a 2018 public vote, The English Patient was named the best winner of the Booker prize of the last 50 years. Ondaatje’s latest novel is Warlight (2018).

Funds raised by this series help support Cuyahoga County Public Library, the nation’s top-rated library system for nine consecutive years.
