Free carillon concert to be held Sunday afternoon

University Circle is home to The Alexander McGaffin Memorial Carillon, one of only ten cast-bell carillon in the State of Ohio. The 15,000 pound 47 bronze bells have been part of the soundscape of campus since 1968.

Hear a guest concert on Sunday afternoon at 4pm by Carson Landry. The hour-long program will include music by the Beatles, music in French Impressionist style, folk tunes from North America, and contemporary carillon compositions. Carson Landry is the carillonist at Grosse Pointe Memorial Church in Michigan. He earned a diploma from the Royal Carillon School in Belgium while on a Fulbright scholarship. The concert is free with free parking.

Listen from your car, bring a blanket or lawn chair, a picnic, and a friend and listen from the lawn. The concert is rain or shine.

There is a pre-concert talk at 3:15 to meet the artist, and a reception following. The carillon in in the tower of the Church of the Covenant, 11205 Euclid Avenue.
