University Health and Counseling Services and the LGBT Center offer Found Families, a program that builds community among LGBT individuals.
Through the program, families of four or five people are formed. By having a small family group, individuals have people they can go to that understand their identity/identities and how that impacts their life.
Families are encouraged to meet once a week. They may opt to have a group text or do activities like going to the movies once a month to keep everyone connected.
Each month, there is a family reunion, where all of the small families can get together to hang out, eat and discuss and an educational topic.
September’s family reunion will be held Sunday, Sept. 30, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the LGBT Center (Tinkham Veale University Center, Suite 179).
New and returning participants are encouraged to attend.
