The 2019 Food Symposium will be held Friday, April 26, with events throughout the day. This year’s symposium is themed “Food, Water and Community” and is part of the Cleveland-wide series of events for the 50th anniversary of the last Cuyahoga River fire.
All of the symposium events are supported by a University Center for Innovation in Teaching and Education Nord Grant and the CWRU Food Institute, a provost-sponsored Seed Sprint.

Food Market and Activities Fair
10 a.m. to noon
Tinkham Veale University food court
Meet CWRU’s hunger- and food-related student groups, University Farm representatives and local farmers during the Food Market and Activities Fair.
Attendees can browse a display of fresh herbs and microgreens (some will be available for purchase) and enjoy finger foods that showcase the theme of water and feature resource-friendly cooking options.
Food Symposium Keynote Event—“The Health of Our Lake: Lake Erie Ecology and Fish Consumption”
12:30 to 2:00 p.m.
Tinkham Veale University Center Senior Classroom
Tory Gabriel, extension specialist and program manager at the Ohio Sea Grant College Program, will give a keynote address.
Lunch will be served beginning at noon.

Meet CWRU faculty, staff, students and community members interested in global food system studies.
Attendees also can hear the conclusions of the gatherings and retreat organized as part of the Food Institute Seed Sprint.
