The winners of CWRU Unplugged 2023 are Phi Sigma Rho and House 6 & 7, with 89 points each. As a reward for reducing their energy consumption, every resident in both houses will be receiving a customized tote bag, water bottle and free Mitchell’s ice cream scoop.
The annual energy contest is a competition hosted by the Sustainability Ambassadors in the Office of Energy and Sustainability (OES). Students living in Case Western Reserve University residence halls and Greek houses try to reduce their energy usage over the course of the five-week competition.
Additional points were given to halls whose residents signed a sustainability pledge for reducing waste or attended events hosted by the OES. The main event this year was a trivia night testing students’ knowledge on sustainability. Everyone who signed the sustainability pledge was also entered into a raffle for prizes such as an inflatable solar lantern, a bento box and a Mitchell’s gift card.
