Synopsis

This ramen Western is a cult classic at CWRU Film Society in particular: a glorious comedic meditation on food that will make you crave a good bowl of ramen. The main plot concerns Tampopo, a widowed noodle chef, who is helped to become a first-class chef by truck driver Goro and friends—but this bizarre collection of vignettes concerning food, sexand American movie tropes filtered through a Japanese lens is much more than it seems. The Philadelphia Inquirer raves: “Outwardly preposterous. And everything works.”
