Launched in May 2013, the Office of Faculty Development is dedicated to advancing the career development of CWRU faculty.
The mission of the Office of Faculty Development is to provide key resources across the university to strengthen the recruitment, advancement, retention and quality of life for faculty members at all career stages at CWRU.
The office serves the university through four strategic focus areas:
- Career enhancement programming
- Partner hiring assistance
- Community building
- Information dissemination
“The office marks the culmination of more than 10 years of National Science Foundation-sponsored faculty-development activities at CWRU,” Lynn Singer, deputy provost and vice president of academic affairs, said. “Best practices and targeted interventions developed under the NSF ADVANCE ACES program and further through IDEAL, provided a foundation for centralized activities to support faculty career advancement.”
ACES+ is the permanent structure for the five most successful initiatives: Advance Opportunity Grants, Executive Coaching, Hotline Coaching, Distinguished Lectureships, and the Summer Undergraduate Research Program for Minorities.
“Providing resources and opportunities to assist the CWRU faculty to achieve their academic and professional goals is more than a priority of the new strategic plan, it’s a university commitment to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and transformative academic environment,” Provost Bud Baeslack said. “When we invest in faculty development we invest in faculty, student, and Institutional success.”
