The Department of Physics will host a lecture titled “Eunice Foote, CO2 Atmospheric Warming and Climate—A Once-Forgotten Climate Science Pioneer” Thursday, Sept. 23, from 4 to 5 p.m.
Joseph Ortiz, a professor at Kent State University, will give this presentation, talking about the once-forgotten contributions of Eunice Foote in the 19th century to our understanding of the greenhouse effect and its role in climate. The talk will be of interest to those who want to learn more about the climate, the history of science, and gender and science.
The talk will be offered in a hybrid format, with an in-person experience (open only to members of the physics department) in Rockefeller Building, Room 301 and a virtual offering via Zoom.
