Ethics Table lunch: “How can we help students think ethically about how to be happy while in college?”

The next Ethics Table lunch will be held Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Thwing Center’s Cleveland Room.

These “come as you are” lunches invite participants to stop by for however long they’re able to—even if they are late—with a lunch in tow or to grab coffee and baklava, provided by the Beamer-Schneider Professorship.

The next lunch will be the second in the happiness series, which was a topic generated by discussion among the group at the opening meeting in September. This meeting will address junior Connor Wolfe’s question, “How can we help students think ethically about how to be happy while in college?”

Reading for the session takes a twist by focusing on the concept of growing up.

Those planning to attend the lunch are encouraged to listen to 2013 Beamer-Schneider Lecture in Ethics & Civics invitee, Susan Neiman, at cbc.ca/radio/ideas/why-grow-up-1.3289631 and/or read her first chapter of her book, Why Grow Up?, hyperlinked from that webpage.
