The Environmental Law Society will host a screening of the award-winning documentary, Bidder 70, the story of one university student’s act of civil disobedience to protect the American wilderness from oil and gas exploitation.
In 2008, Tim DeChristopher placed a bid on 14 parcels (22,500 acres) of land in the pristine red rocks region of Utah with no intention of paying for the land. His action landed him in court, where he was tried, convicted and sentenced to 21 months in prison.
The screening will take place Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m. in Gund Hall, Room 158. Food and beverages will be provided.
