Kelvin Smith Library invites submissions to the third annual Art of STEM Competition and Exhibit, which is a chance to look at science and research from an artistic angle, find its inherent beauty and share it with the world through digital images.
The Art of STEM Competition, presented in conjunction with the national “STEM to STEAM” movement, encourages the integration of art and design with science, technology, engineering and mathematics to spur creativity and innovations. By celebrating the wide diversity of research at Case Western Reserve University, the exhibit aims to inspire interest in STEM fields and promote collaboration.
The competition is open to Case Western Reserve faculty, students and staff, Cleveland Institute of Art students who collaborate with a member of the CWRU community, and high school students from Cuyahoga County.
A jury of Case Western Reserve faculty and Cleveland-area art professionals will select the winning entries based on artistic merit, title creativity and caption clarity.
Monetary prizes will be awarded as follows:
- First place: $350
- Second place: $200
- 3rd place: $100
Two awards of $50 will be awarded to high school student winners.
Winning images will be printed and displayed in a Kelvin Smith Library exhibit during April 2020. All entries will be included in an online exhibit hosted by Kelvin Smith Library.
Submissions are due by Friday, Jan. 31.
The complete competition rules and submission guidelines are available on the Kelvin Smith Library website.
