In April, Valentin Rodionov, assistant professor in the Department of Macromolecular Science and Engineering, published a paper in Chemistry World (CW) titled, “Holes in the ‘holey graphyne’ story,” which examines the challenges and importance of questioning published results.
Recently, Rodionov and his team comprehensively discredited a study published in the Cell Press journal, Matter, about a purported new allotrope of carbon. In the journal, Rodionov’s group published a rebuttal, and in the CW article, he writes about his experience.
