Umut Gurkan, the Wilbert J. Austin Professor of Engineering, served as lead author on a paper published in Lab on a Chip Journal. Titled “Next generation microfluidics: fulfilling the promise of lab-on-a-chip technologies,” this article is the result of a National Institutes of Health workshop Gurkan co-chaired.
The article discusses the limitations and future directions of microfluidic and lab-on-a-chip technologies, which are the technologies that enable many diagnostics tests, and human tissue-on-a-chip, and organ-on-a-chip technologies.
