Engineering’s Ozan Akkus discusses arthritis research to grow replacement joints

CWRU leads national effort to reverse effects of arthritis using ‘live’ joint replacements

deastreamOzan Akkus, the Kent Hale Smith Professor of Engineering and a professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at Case School of Engineering, explained the newly funded research he’s leading with a team to grow replacement joints using patient cells to treat osteoarthritis, a condition where joint tissues break down over time, leading to pain and restricted mobility.
