Ozan Akkus, Kent H. Smith Professor of Engineering, was selected as the first faculty member to lead as director of the Office of Faculty Development early this September. The Office of Faculty Development provides resources and programming in order to support the duties and goals of CWRU faculty members, including excellence in research, career development and leadership.
Akkus also is the founder of the Tissue Fabrication and Mechanobiology Laboratory, which has been recognized globally by organizations such as the National Science Foundation, the European Society of Biomechanics, and the Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation. Akkus has also published more than 130 peer-reviewed journal articles, 180 peer-reviewed conference abstracts, and co-authored several book chapters with colleagues.
