The Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) recently awarded Clare Rimnac, associate dean of research and the Wilbert J. Austin Professor of Engineering, with the 2013 ORS Women’s Leadership Forum Award.

The ORS Women’s Leadership Forum seeks to mentor, foster, encourage and inspire women in orthopaedic research at all stages of their careers, and advise and support women on career and leadership opportunities in orthopaedic-related organizations.

The Women’s Leadership Award was established in 2006 and is given annually to recognize a woman biologist, clinician or engineer who, throughout her professional lifetime, has made significant contributions to the understanding of the musculoskeletal system and musculoskeletal diseases and injuries. She also has demonstrated outstanding leadership through service to the professional community and mentorship of colleagues and trainees.

Rimnac received the award at a ceremony in San Antonio at the end of January.
