Engineering’s Chris Yingchun Yuan wins award from American Society of Mechanical Engineers

Chris Yingchun Yuan, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, received the Chao and Trigger Young Manufacturing Engineer Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

About the award

Established in 2011, the award recognizes a manufacturing researcher under 40 for significant contributions to fundamental science and engineering of manufacturing processes.

Yuan was recognized for his research contributions to sustainable manufacturing of lithium ion batteries for electric vehicles by:

  • Advancing scientific understanding of the electrochemical performance;
  • Developing scalable manufacturing techniques for high-performance battery materials; and
  • Creating life cycle assessment models for improving sustainability performance.
