Editor of book on sexual violence survivors to speak at next What? Wednesday event

dear sisterThe Flora Stone Mather Center for Women will sponsor a discussion led by Lisa Factora-Borchers, editor of the book Dear Sister: Letters from Survivors of Sexual Violence, as part of its What? Wednesday brown bag lunchtime program.

The discussion will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 12, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Thwing Center’s Spartan Room.

The just-released volume shares the lessons, memories and vision of more than 50 artists, activists, mothers, writers and students who share their stories of survival or what it means to be an advocate and ally to survivors. Factora-Borchers will discuss some of the stories captured in the book and the process of collecting the inspiring and empowering letters from women around the world and getting them into print.

Dessert and beverages will be provided.

Those interested in attending must RSVP online. The first 15 people to register will receive a free copy of the book.

The event is co-sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
