John A. List, the Homer J. Livingston Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago, will present “Using Field Experiments in Economics” at The Howard T. McMyler Memorial Lecture on Friday, Nov. 14, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Kelvin and Eleanor Smith Foundation Ballroom in the Tinkham Veale University Center.
Some of the questions the lecture will attempt to answer are: How can we close the gap between rich and poor students? How can we stop the violence plaguing inner-city schools? Are women really less competitive than men? What inspires charitable donations? How do sellers decide how to price their products and services? What are the real reasons why people discriminate?
List will discuss the insights that field experiments have provided towards these and other questions and the far-reaching implications of those insights for policymakers, managers, entrepreneurs and philanthropists.
This event is free and open to the public. RSVP online. A reception will follow.
The lecture is presented by the Weatherhead School of Management, the Department of Economics and the Howard T. McMyler Memorial Fund.
