Support ending for Windows XP, Office 2003; download free upgrades in Software Center

Microsoft will be ending its support for Windows XP and Office 2003 on April 8, 2014. This means it will no longer provide important security updates and other forms of technical assistance to users who continue to use the products. While it is still possible to continue using XP and Office 2003, doing so may put computers at risk for software failure and malicious attacks.

Case Western Reserve University students, and members of the faculty and staff of can download free upgrades to Windows 7 or 8 Enterprise and Office 2013 at the Software Center.

Before beginning the upgrade process, review the hardware required at the Microsoft Windows Compatibility Center.

Note that you must have a valid Windows license to use an upgrade offered on the Software Center.

Installation can be completed on your own. Technical support for upgrades, troubleshooting and more is available 24/7 from the ITS Service Desk at 216.368.HELP (4357) and help@case.edu.
