Diversity in neuroscience program offers free, two-day educational trip to California

Students of color who are in their junior or senior year and have an interest in neuroscience or a related field are strongly urged to apply for an all-expenses-paid two-day program, “Neuroscience Initiative to Enhance Diversity,” which will be held April 16-17 at the University of California, Davis. The goal of the program is to educate students about the doctoral degree, graduate school and admissions process. Additionally, it is aimed at increasing nationwide the number of students of color pursuing PhDs in neuroscience.

The Office for Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity and the College of Arts and Sciences are working to spread the word about the program to CWRU students.

All expenses associated with the program are paid for including airfare, lodging meals and transportation. During the two-day program, students will be involved in lab tours, workshops, poster sessions and mini-lectures. Program workshops will include mock interviews and focus on strategies for identifying and applying to graduate programs, writing a personal statement and preparing for the Graduate Record Exam.  Equally important, the program hopes to establish and foster strong working relationships with students and the undergraduate institutions that serve them.
