This October, HFLA of Northeast Ohio will be hosting an important discussion on the current status and future of women’s economic empowerment. This event will be centered around the free, virtual screening of the 2021 documentary, $avvy, and followed by a panel discussion of local experts.
$avvy questions why women often take a backseat to managing their money by investigating the historical, cultural, and societal norms around women and money in the United States. Robin Hauser, the film’s director, will join two Cleveland-area experts, Margaret Mitchell, President & CEO of the YWCA Cleveland, and Heather Ettinger, Founder & CEO of Luma Wealth Advisors, to discuss the status of women in Northeast Ohio and how we can improve women’s financial empowerment.
HFLA of Northeast Ohio provides 0% interest loans to Northeast Ohioans who are unable to access conventional financial resources. Women consistently make up the majority of all loan recipients, including 75% of all COVID-19 Emergency Loans disbursed in 2020. In hosting the viewing of this important documentary screening and public conversation, HFLA seeks to highlight the importance of women’s financial independence and financial literacy education.
Together, our region can work to strengthen Northeast Ohio women’s financial futures. Please join us for this important conversation.
