On Monday, March 31, La Alianza will hold a discussion on the legacy of Cesar Chavez and his dedication to the Labor Movement and Latino American civil rights. The event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m in Hovorka Atrium.
Speakers will include John Flores, Climo Junior Professor in the College of Arts and Sciences; Raul Erick Juarez Hernandez, lecturer in the chemistry department; and Veronica Isabel Dahlberg, executive director of HOLA, a grassroots organization focusing on Latino outreach, advocacy and community organizing.
This discussion will explore the past efforts of Cesar Chavez in seeking equality and justice for unskilled workers and rights for Latino Americans. It will also explore the current issues Latino Americans face and discuss ways to engage the campus and local communities in efforts to benefit Latino Americans.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event, which is supported by the Office of Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity.
