Discuss the implications of online course evaluations during Friday’s public affairs talk

As the semester comes to a close, Case Western Reserve, like many universities, will distribute digitized course evaluations, rather than traditional in-class evaluations.

Join Timothy J. Fogarty, professor of accountancy at the Weatherhead School of Management, to examine the implications of this transition during the Friday Public Affairs Discussion Group talk, “The Medium is the Message: What Happens When Universities Digitize Course Evaluations.

Fogarty is the author of more than 75 articles on aspects of accounting, particularly subjects pertaining to teaching and learning practices. In a recent paper, he examined the subject of digital course evaluations by comparing the results of questionnaires administered online with those collected from the same students while they were in class.

The discussion will take place Friday, Nov. 30, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Dampeer Room of the Kelvin Smith Library.
