Discuss “The European Economy and EU Politics” with public affairs group Sept. 28

The Friday Public Affairs Discussion Group will continue its series Sept. 28 with a talk by Elliot Posner, associate professor of political science, on “The European Economy and EU Politics.”

The talk will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in a special location: Mather House 100.

Posner’s research focuses on the EU’s effect on European markets and economic regulation. He spent 2011-12 on sabbatical at Sciences-Po in Paris and the Bruegel Institute in Brussels. He will discuss how recessions—or the costs of subsidies to avoid them—may weaken the richer economies, whether the Euro itself, a major currency, can survive the pressures; and what a Eurocollapse might do to the world economy.

Since 1989, faculty, emeriti, students and staff have gathered on Fridays for a brown-bag lunch and to discuss topics in public affairs.
