The next meeting of the Ethics Table brown bag lunch will be held Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Thwing Center’s Cleveland Room. The meeting will will focus on the refugee crisis in Europe as a result of wars involving states and non-state actors in the Middle East, the U.S., the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Australia and many other places.
The following questions will shape conversation during the meeting:
- What is morally required when a refugee comes to your land?
- What are the virtues of refuge?
- What is most challenging when a person needs refuge?
- What is refuge?
- What are our obligations to the world’s refugees?
Participants at the meeting also will look ahead to climate refugees. The United Nations estimates that by 2050, there will be more than 100 million climate refugees in the world.
