Discuss Hollywood’s portrayal of women during upcoming event

Among the leading ladies and fighting heroines, there are female characters that don’t always give women the best name: the damsel in distress, the femme fatale, and the Smurfette. The Flora Stone Mather Center for Women invites the campus community to “Women vs. Tropes: What Does Hollywood Really Think of Women?”—a dialogue on how common tropes in the media can perpetuate harmful stereotypes and undermine women’s diverse abilities.

The discussion will be held March 1 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Spartan Room of Thwing Center.

Free Jimmy John’s and other refreshments will be provided.
