Math, reading scores of fourth, eighth-graders declined nationally during pandemic; Ohio still above average
WEWSDenise Davies, director of teacher education, discusses how the COVID-19 pandemic has played a role in a declining pool of teachers and some lower test scores in math across the country. A majority of states saw scores decline for fourth- and eighth-graders in mathematics and reading between 2019 and 2022, according to the latest results from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), also known as The Nation’s Report Card.
