Help is on the way for Uber, Lyft drivers and other gig workers as economy sputters
19 News – WOIO, Cleveland: Michael Goldberg, executive director of the Veale Institute for Entrepreneurship and an associate professor of design and innovation at the Weatherhead School of Management, spoke about how some perks of the “gig economy”—earning extra cash with flexible hours and giving consumers more choices for transportation and delivery—have become disadvantages during social isolation: “Customers and [those with] flexible schedules participating in it, there was a lot to love,” Goldberg said. “Certainly if you’re an AirBnB property owner and it’s sitting empty these are difficult times right now.”
