With the culmination of homecoming earlier this month, Case Western Reserve University alumni gathered from all corners of the country for festivities and to celebrate their Spartan spirit. In honor of these celebrations, we will highlight information about alumni throughout the month.
When Case Western Reserve University students walk across the graduation stage in May, they become members of an interconnected community of alumni that extends around the world.
Alumni chapters and affinity groups are imperative to engaging alumni and serve as resources to keep them involved after graduation. The Alumni Association has 25 domestic alumni chapters across the country, in cities like Boston, Phoenix and San Diego.
All around the country, the alumni chapters put on nearly 100 events each year, including homecoming, summer send-offs and affinity partnerships. At more than 100 years old, the New York Alumni Association is the oldest regional chapter. In the past five years, the event with the most registrants was the Alumni Reception Honoring the Ohio Delegation to the 115th Congress in 2017 in Washington, DC. Each chapter has anywhere from one to six leaders working on the planning of events for the area, and each chapter averages two to four events per year.
These events provide a means to connect alumni to the university and to each other based
on geographic location and shared interests. They also work to promote programming for alumni to attend in their local regions or on campus. In supporting these programs, they help endorse university fundraising campaigns in support of Case Western Reserve University.
