Diane Bergeron, associate professor of organizational behavior, explained the role of the “organizational wife” many women in the workplace take on in a recent opinion piece published by Covey Club.
Bergeron defined the “organizational wife” as someone who takes on a domestic role in the workplace by organizing events, keeping the office area in good shape, and making new employees feel welcome. In her piece, Bergeron questioned whether this role is truly a source of upward mobility for women, especially when women are still vastly underrepresented in leadership roles.
