In 1871, Johannes Brahms completed “Schicksalslied,” a 16-minute choral/orchestral piece that set Friedrich Hölderlin’s poem “Hyperions Schicksalslied,” from his novel Hyperion. The poem contrasts the lives of the gods with the fate and destiny of men. The Case/University Circle Symphony Orchestra and Case Concert Choir will present this work, in addition to Verdi’s “Overture to La Forza Del Destino,” the “Lizst Les Preludes,” and three Brahms part-songs.
This concert, titled “Destiny,” will be held Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Maltz Performing Arts Center’s Silver Hall.
