Elizabeth Meckes and Elisabeth Werner, professors in the Department of Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Statistics, were selected as 2020 Simons Fellows.
The Simons Fellows program extends academic leaves from one term to a full year, enabling recipients to focus solely on research for the long periods often necessary for significant advances. Meckes will spend the 2020-21 academic year at Oxford University, and Werner will be at the Simons Institute for the Theory of Computing in Berkeley and the Hausdorff Research Institute for Mathematics in Bonn, Germany.
