Northeast Ohio experts discuss challenge of missing submersible search

WKYCAnne Willem Omta, visiting assistant professor in the Department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences at the College of Arts and Sciences, explained the vastness of the oceans—pointing out that only 10% of the ocean floor has been accurately mapped—to help understand the plight of the submersible that disappeared while searching the wreckage of the Titanic. The five-man crew has since been declared dead following the discovery of the vehicle’s wreckage.
