Dental medicine’s Milda Chmieliauskaite calls for dentist offices to become vaccination sites

Milda Chmieliauskaite, assistant professor of oral and maxillofacial medicine at the School of Dental Medicine, co-authored an article—published in the Journal of the American Dental Association—advocating for dentist offices to be used as vaccination sites.

Titled “Including vaccinations in the scope of dental practice,” the piece argued that in the wake of a drop in non-influenza and pediatric measles-containing vaccine administrations recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, should be addressed. The piece explained that physicians and public health officials, including dentists should turn their attention to vaccination to help prevent future communicable disease burdens on society.
