Oral cancer study underway at CWRU, University Hospitals; new diagnostic test being researched
The Plain Dealer: Aaron Weinberg, associate dean for research professor in the School of Dental Medicine and chair of the Department of Biological Sciences, discussed the test researchers at Case Western Reserve University and University Hospitals are developing to predict if someone will get oral cancer and detect the disease sooner based on naturally occurring antibacterial proteins in the mouth. “It’s Mother Nature’s own antibiotic,” Weinberg said.
